The 21st & 22nd of Feb. trail ride at Crooked Creek should be more fun. Probably a little warmer too. There is an Okla. Vintage Club race that weekend too, and we really hated to have any schedulin conflicts with the club, but we figgered that the guys that wanted to go on up and race would do that anyway instead of goin trail riding. I sure wanted to support the Okla. guys too. Glad to see them gettin started.

Thanks Gary, yeah, I'm gonna need a lenghtened swing arm for sure if we're gonna have a chance against the Elsinores etc. If you could find yours and loan it to me for a race or 2 that would be great. If you can't, no big deal, I'll have to take mine to Bill Keene and have him put at least 2" in it. He is a genuine wizard when it comes to fabrication, welding, etc. You say that you think yours has had 3" added ? That might be just the ticket. More is better. That would make it about 55" wheelbase, which would be bout right. Keep me posted. I'm getin the SL frame stripped now and ready to steel brush, look for cracks. Never seen one crack yet, however Craig Knight says he cracked his SL100 frame. He probably rode his harder than I did. Anywaze,,,gonna paint it and try to get it ready for suspension parts, wheel choices etc. All the while, plannin on buildin a 190 something cc engine for it. Need to find me a decent cam for it too. Thanks for the reply Gary, and keep in touch. The trail ride was real cold but fun. My XR200 rear brake went completely away about 200 yards from the truck, and that was a complete disaster, as we dropped into gobs of little creeks and with NO rear brake, I was like some sort of Kamakazi pilot lookin for any tree or rock to bang into or off of !! Luckily, I didn't get hurt and barely got back to the truck OK after several get offs ! It was fun, but not a LOT of fun, if you know what I mean.

I had lunch with Jerry Franks a few weeks back and he and Sammie are doing well. They still live in Benbrook. Jerry had a heart attack last year, but is fully recovered. He has a street bike, but spends more time in his motor home then on the bike. Little General

Hey homeboy,,,,where you been? Looked for you at the '20th' get together on Sat the 25th. Rode my little junkyard Honda and had a ball, but man, talk about being out of shape !!! My legs were like rubber after about 2 laps of hard riding. Then, it's like, you know, just hanging on and kinda lettin the bike go where it wants to go, cause you ain't got the strength to muscle it around anymore. And we're talkin about a little 165 pound Honda !! Dude, I was whupped after a 5 lap heat race !! But, I think I did OK. I gave the younger cats a run for their money for a little while !!! Keep in touch with me......JJ

It'll be good to be back on a Honda. Ain't been on an MX track in 20 years.... Hope I remember where the shifter and brake are!! Sure hope to see you. Joey told me to tell you "Hi" for him..

Richard Martin(Michael's brother) at the back, #23 on his monark. I remember being intimidated by the big guy #14, because of his size. Never saw him after the gate dropped. #27 is'nt Robbie or Sean, but I can't remember who it is.

As told before, In 90 I went to the AHRMA race in Livermore,Ca and someone had a titanium frame for the sl100/125 that was used by either Baker or Petty(?) in one of the desert races, for $350 !! I think they said it weighed about 17/18 lbs, less th…
