In 1969, this was the VERY best open class motocrosser that money could buy. Ready to race, right out of the box. But of course, if you were a Husky or Maico man, you might dis-agree.

Mark, if you'll remember, Greg Camp of FW also had a hi pipe 360. I sold mine to a guy in Dalas named John sometime in 1970. Wonder where it ever went to ? I sure would like to find it today if it still exists and hasn't been scrap ironed at some ti…

Mark, I remember the foto of Snipes and I think it was at the old 157 track in Arlington, Phil was on his single hi pipe 250 that he bought at Competition Cycles on Denton Hwy in FW. Same place you got yours. Anthony Jones bought his CZ there too.

Joe, I figured this pic would stir up a fair amount of your interest, that's a good looking old 360. Craig had featured a picture of Phil Snipes a while back and Phil looked like he was one at the time.

Man Rick, this picture of the 360 Hi Pipe sure brings back some good memories. I rode one of these in the open class at the Dallas Inter-Am in Nov. 68. I later bought it from the dealer and it was one of the most wonderful race bikes that I ever own…

Gosh Rick, that's a good story, and exactly the kind we need and are anxious to hear. Stories from Southern Cal are so cool for so much racin was goin on out there.I remember that when I was livivg with Al and Veillon in 72, that we could go race or watch Wed nites, Thurs nites, Fri nites, Sat or Sunday. Therre was speedway, TT scrambles, motocross,(take your pick of severaltracks) trials, and several desert races every weekend. What a hoot ! Thanks for the story, and PLEASE send more and some fotos too. Glad to have you aboard to give us a variety to the mix of BS floatin around here. Thanks again Rick.

Rick, Thanks for the reply. Nice to hear from Co Cal guys like you. A friend on mine, Mark Moore and I made a disasterious trip to Saddleback in June 69. The track that day was hard as concrete, dusty and very slick. We had Barum tires on our CZs so needless to say, we didn't do well at all. However, we did take the privilege to ride the trails there in the park while we were there and had a ball doing that. Even went over and looked at the 'matahorn' hill climb. As I remember it was a monster, especially the last 50-60 feet from the top where it looked near vertical. I rode Barstow to Vegas 3 years in a row (71-72-73) and absolutely loved it. I loved riding in the desert. Moved to Woodland Hills, Cal in 72 for about 3 months and lived with Al Baker and Joe Vellon and we went trail riding in the desert every weekend that we didn't go to a desert race. Rode the View Finders Gran Prix that year at Indian Dunes in Valencia that year too. Man, you guys are so fortunate to have the desert to ride in, however I hear it's harder and harder toride out there legally now. I moved back to Cal in 88 and worked for Al at his XRs Only shop in Hesperia and we could leave the shop and take off and ride in the desert for hours and hours, no fences, no green stickies, nothing, just go ride. Heard that is just about a thing of the past now. Send us some pictures of good ole So Cal stuff. Know what you mean about the knees thing. Both mine are shot to hell too, and I just had a rt hip replaced (well, the joint anyway) too, so I know the feeling. Send us some pictures and feel free to jump right in with some old racing stories. Sounds like you probably have a few...................JJ

Welcome Rick. Glad to have you here. What part of So Cal do you live in? Are you in Dist. 37? Join in, send in some fotos and tell some good ole racing stories from Southern Cal. You can either lie a little or exaggerate a lot........ but not both at the same time. That right is reserved for us local guys. Seriously, we do sincerely welcome any and all you out of state guys.

I have to admit I'm not a super fan of Hannah, but I did see some of the greatest come from behind rides from him. I know Johnny O' put in a great `125 ride in the MXD on a dry track, but I got to see Hannah's 125(a true 125!) ride in the mud and hi…
