Hey Bobby,
This website has opened alot of old questions for me and since you were one of my motocross hero's I thought it might be alright to ask?

1) You flew on that Penton 250 - what made it so fast.
2) Was the Penton a better bike than the Maico's?
3) I raced a "Little Husky -125" a couple of times (borrowed) and it was fast and handled pretty good. Was your "Little Husky" faster than those Elsinores? If so, what mods did you have on the "Little Husky"?
4) I had a roomate - Ronnie Pannell - that all he talked about was diceing it out with you no matter what track it was. I remember seeing you and Pannell going into a corner at Whitney right past the first corner.(Both dragging the bars) and both of you coming out of the corner with wide open eyes in front of me and my friends. Do you remeber Robbie?
5) What was up when you and Doss started riding the KX-250's. You guy;s never liked the Bultaco's?
6) How did Skipper Franks holeshot every "EXPERT-250" start?.
7) What were you thinking on that Whitney start where you were at another track?

Thanks,

Chance

In 1981 I lived with Robbie Pannell and David Mootz. they both bought new Maico 250's and both hurt their knees at the same time. Therefore, I got 2 sponsored Maico rides. These were great for the Mosier night track but not for the Mosier day track. When I was a kid you, Shoecraft, Finstad and Doss were my hero's. Back to Johnny K. - I have not talked to him in years.

When I was in the 7th grade I worked at Kimbrell's Maico on Grauwyler in Irving on the weekends. My best friend was Johnny Kimbrell's brother-in-law. What made you make the switch to the mighty Maico?

Can't wait. The last time I saw Dale was at a boat show in Dallas years ago, and I believe he was selling boats at the time.

Bobby, thanks!..yes the drinks were good and with only one was just a tease. Out of character for me to only have one but my plans had me leaving earlier than norm. I wound up with your glass, I will just have to serve more drinks next time to make it up. I enjoyed the great comaraderie and look forward to the next one! GD

hey Bobby, saw your comment to Bermshot about lightning not striking the same place multiple times. that's probably similar to something Oklahoma folks say about tornados. not sure that's really worked out well, up there!

You will own Doss on a big bike. Good luck with that. Let me know how the race comes out. There wasn't anyone better on those Maicos than you. Well Maybe Gaylon Mosier...Gerritt Wolsink.. Ok thats enough. The point I am making you could ride the wheels off those bikes. I saw some great pictures of some restored Maicos. Thats what you should have. I am sure they are expensive all restored. Hope to see you soon. Later.

Paul, I agree all three would have done quite well in the Nationals, but as you well know it's a whole different world out there trying to run the Nationals and the comfort of running at a local level. It would have been interesting, and the recor...
