I know you all remember Randal Tarter. His little brother, Mike who raced many classes, including 250 expert. He was killed instantly in a head on car collision in rural Oklahoma a little over a year ago. He is in the Irving Suzuki team photo also, 4th from the right I believe.

Sam was a nurse anesthesist. can't remember exactly when he died, but was around 2000, maybe. he'd bought a Ducati a few weeks before and was taking long area rides on weekends.

one Saturday or Sunday, he was on the main county road between Springtown and Weatherford (northwest of FtW), headed toward Weatherford. it's your standard two-lane road, with shoulders. mostly straight, but a few twists, and some gentle rollers.

he crested a hill which had a bend at the top, and went into the front of an on-coming auto. I've heard a couple of versions. one that he was too hot into it, and drifted into the other vehicle. the second was that he was using all of his lane, but was still in it, and the other guy drifted over the line. he apparently died right there. never heard if any charges were filed.

Does anyone know how Sam Menefee died?

Jack Jenkins, of Ft Worth, died May 2, 2009. he lived in the same neighborhood and rode the same neighborhood trails as Ken Walden and me. the three of us began racing motocross within a couple months of each other, in early 1973. his sister Sabrina sponsored a group of guys, for a short time, as "SGJ" racing team. Jack rode mostly Cross-Country races, by the time he quit in the late 70's - early 80's.

T.C. was also a great flat tracker used to see him every Friday night at Ross Downs on his 650 Yamaha. We called him TC but his name was actually T.E. Carter. Kring worked at his Husky shop in Denton in the late 70's early 80's.Bought my last and only 490 Yamaha from his Garland store in 84.

Carter also sponsored Roger Schellenbergr. He want a 70s guy more of a late 80s.But , i remember Roger when he was 12 years old helping me sweep the floors at the Yamaha shop after school. He would ride his stingray and lean it on the service dept door.Zena liked free help. Even if he were a Carters Yamaha Yz80 star and later a 250 expert.

This could be a '76, even a '77 model, I think. Haslet Joe has a '77 on the stand right now, and it looks just like it. His has leading axle forks, but his manual says it came with straight legs. New fenders installed by yours truly, and yes, they a…

It must be fast because the front motor mount was engineered for the extreme Greeves power. I believe MKA went to school was Charlie Greeves and will have something German to say on the subject. Martin "poking the bear" Brazil

anyone who ever went fast on a Greeves has my admiration!

1975 model? Mark Pledger went plenty fast on one of these, for a while. David Greenhill also did his share of damage to Jap bikes riding a machine like this.
